Actor James Dreyfus first grabbed attention with a small role in Absolutely Fabulous but achieved household name status with The Thin Blue Line as PC Goody a TV sitcom written by Ben Elton and starring Rowan Atkinson leading an ensemble cast where. he did that most rare of things and arguably was the most memorably performance in the whole two series before going on to star opposite Kathy Burke in another TV sitcom ‘ Gimme. Gimme, Gimme’ that was hugely popular despite garnering controversy.
Since then he has gone on to appear in Notting Hill, in another scene stealing role as Hugh Grant’s bookshop colleague as well as winning awards for this theatre work. His career has taken in a diverse number of productions including TV favourites Holby City, Midsommer Murders and most recently House of the Dragon. But his work has taken in Dr Who where he played The Master as well as appearance sin Whitechapel, Father Brown, Shameless, Harry & Megan : Becoming Royal and the under rated film, Supernova
We had the opportunity to chat with James about his career working with Rowan Atkinson, Jennifer Saunders and a whole load of others. He also spoke quite candidly about his forthright opinions that have courted controversy even to the detriment of his career. James also revealed the films that he is enthused by which may well surprise you in his choices. It was an absolute privilege to chat to James at such length and he revealed a role that he’s keen to play that’s like nothing you have seen him do before…..casting directors take note!
