Baghead – DVD / BLU-RAY

Baghead - Blu-ray / DVD review of the Freya Allan horror

Actress Freya Allan star is very much on the rise. Having been catapulted to fame in the Netflix series ‘The Witcher’ and sandwiched between the release of the summer blockbuster ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’,  is the horror ‘Baghead’ DVD release.

She pays Iris Lark who, following the death of her father, inherits a run-down pub and discovers a dark secret within its basement – Baghead – a shapeshifting creature that will let you speak to lost loved ones, but not without consequence. Read our review HERE

The film is adapted and expanded from director Alberto Corredor’s award-winning short film of the same name and co stars Ruby Barker (Bridgerton), Peter Mullan (Top of the Lake), Saffron Burrows (You) and Julika Jenkins (Dark). Baghead did so-so business at the box office when it was released earlier this year and deserved to have more success than it did

Baghead has been given something of a vanilla release on DVD & Blu-ray with the only features being the film, settings function and ur…well that’s it. It’s a disappointing treatment for a disc which could have included the original short film, a featurette on Baghead herself and a director’s commentary and even a standard EPK would not have gone amiss. Instead there’s nothing.

That aside the film is still worth a look having had a decent transfer and Baghead as several effectively creepy moments and set pieces that are heightened when watched within the viewers own home setting.
