Now we find Oscar winning actor Jared Leto an interesting kind of bloke who dabbles with hi-tech investment (something he must have drawn on for his role in Blade Runner 2049) as much as he does with a range of film roles that have included burglars (Panic Room), a hustler with AIDS (Dallas Buyers Club) and a not so memorable turn as Joker in Suicide Squad. Well now Jared Leto IS Andy Warhol in a forthcoming biopic about the giant of the US art world most famous for his silk screen prints of Campbell’s soup cans and the Marilyn Monroe. Leto made the announcement by posting a photo on Instagram of Warhol timed to the day when it would have been Warhol’s 92nd birthday with the caption: “Yes it’s true I will be playing Andy Warhol in an upcoming film. And so grateful and excited about the opportunity. We miss you and your genius”
Andy Warhol was most famous for his art work and a factory where art students helped mass produce his work but he was also a film director and producer with a number of films mostly made between 1963 to 1967 and frankly most have been rightly consigned to the rubbish bin of history. He made several feature films too which were very much for a niche audience but ultimately ended up making a few pop videos for The Cars. He also went on to be influential with The Velvet Underground band producing their first album. An eclectic career also included him being shot by one of his entourage in an assassination attempt in 1968.
There are few details known about the film and Jared Leto IS Andy Warhol was an expectation way back in 2016 biopic which ultimately collapsed. Warhol was an odd bloke and it surprised us that we never saw his photo in newspapers with ‘….is helping police with their enquiries’, written underneath.
