.......it was the only way to get the Jehovah's Witnesses off their doorstep.......

We’re huge fans of the Luc Besson‘s film ‘Leon’ (or ‘The Professional’ as it was known in the US) hence the icon on our twitter account  and its the film with which Jean Reno first came to everyone’s attention  but its been 23 year since that film and when our Deputy Editor recently interviewed Luc Besson about Valerian he asked the French auteur about a sequel to the film and he replied,

I don’t know. It depends. Sometimes I’m thinking of it and think, ‘Oh that would be cool’ and then 2 months later, ‘No that won’t be cool’. I guess my main concern is not the money otherwise I would have done it a long time ago. I’m between ideas because I would love to see what happened to her (Mathilda played by Natalie Portman) but at the same time there’s so much love for this film it’s on the internet and in the papers and it’s like a classic that everyone refers to and its quite complicated to touch it. I don’t want to disappoint the people . No matter what you do even if the film is good. It’s just difficult so honestly, I don’t know’.

So maybe we will and maybe we won’t get a sequel but one things confirmed is that Jean Reno will be playing another hitman assassin in, ‘The Last Step’ which will also star Sarah Lind (The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford), Tom Hopper (Black Sails) and Gary Dourdan (Alien: Resurrection).

The film follows Henry (Reno), a legendary hitman now retired and embracing the isolation of his lakeside cabin set deep within the Canadian wilderness. His solitude is soon broken by the arrival of a young woman (Lind), the survivor of a massive snowmobile accident and Henry must decide whether to risk his own life to save hers.

The film is written by Frederic Petitjean (Madame Irma) who direct this as his first feature film.

Here’s the trailer for ‘Leon’…….
