So with the previous two standalone Wolverine films having earned respectively $373m (X-Men: Origins) and $414m (The Wolverine) Hugh Jackman is hanging up his talons after the last film as Wolverine in ‘Logan’. Much has been made about the tone of this final film as the previous films have been remarkably bloodless for a character who slashes away at his enemies with 12 inch talons.
Just as relevant is the success of Deadpool ($782m) which proved that there is an audience for 15 rated superhero films and this trailer which is incredibly melancholy in tone also has one shot towards the end which suggests that this will be a violent affair.
