It’s getting ever worse for Harvey Weinstein with the trickle of sex pest allegations being made against now turning into a torrent it seems it can’t get any worse but it has. Since the story was first unveiled his wife has left him, he has been dropped by BAFTA, about to be dropped by the Oscars, sacked by his own company and now police on both sides of the Atlantic are likely to begin criminal investigations against him.
And now the male stars are beginning to speak out with Tarantino already speaking out against the man who produced several of his films and now A-listers George Clooney and Matt Damon have started laying into him whilst doing the press circuit for their new film ‘Surburbicon’.
Matt Damon told ABC news , ‘You had to spend about five minutes with him to know that he was a bully. He was intimidating — that was his legend. When people say everybody knew, yeah I knew he was an asshole. He was proud of that. I knew he was a womaniser,” he added. “I wouldn’t want to be married to the guy, but it’s not my business. But this level of criminal sexual predation is not something that I ever thought was going on.’……personally we think that’s a little naive as the stories about Weisntein’s behaviour were rife.
To that George Clooney then added, ‘ Harvey would talk to me about women that he’d had affairs with. I didn’t necessarily believe him quite honestly, because to believe him would be to believe the worst of some actresses who were friends of mine.The idea that this predator – this assaulter – was out there silencing women like that… It’s beyond infuriating.”
Clooney then went on to say “There has to be a come-uppance for all of this. All of the people who were part of that chain. And then, we have to make it safe for people to feel that they can talk about it.”
I think we can expect this story to run and run and run……….
