Scorsese next film after Killers of the Flower Moon....

With Killers of the Flower Moon premiering at this years Cannes festival to rave reviews  for its Autumn release. As ever the question being asked is what is Scorsese next film after Killers of the Flower Moon? Rumours of a Jonah Hill led Jerry Garcia biopic, a DiCaprio-led Teddy Roosevelt biopic, and his previously teased Jesus film are all in the mix but the the latest rumour is that it will be an adaptation of author David Grann’s book The Wager which is already top of the New York Times best-seller list and the author has said in interviews that this will be Scorsese’s next film again wilt Leonardo De Caprio.

The Wager is a non-fiction work set in the 1740s and begins when a patched-together boat with 30 emaciated men landed on the coast of Brazil. The men claim to be the survivors of a British ship that crashed onto an island in South America’s Patagonia region. Their tales of surviving the seas and elements make them heroes. Six months later, another and even more dilapidated vessel is found off the coast of Chile. This ship, carrying three survivors, claims the other men were actually mutineers. As accusations fly, the British Admiralty set a special trial to uncover the truth of what exactly happened on the island.

Grann was the author of Killers if the Flower Moon book so it would obvious that Scorsese would have a call on optioning any new books from the author and it was rumoured to be on Scorsese’s radar back last year. Whether this will actually happens remains to be seen as the director has been associated with so many projects over the years that never came to fruition most notably his Rat Pack film that would focus on Sinatra. So whether The Wager will be Scorsese next film after Killers of the Flower Moon ….well we won’t hold our breathe just yet
