With the release of Director Martin Scorsese’s long cherished project, ‘Silence’ tlak now turns to what his next film will be which is another long cherished project this time of silky smooth crooner Frank Sinatra entitled….um…..’Sinatra’ because it’s about…um…..Frank Sinatra.
It certainly had a top cast attached to it with Al Pacino playing Sinatra in his older years and Robert De Niro playing Dean Martin. At one point there was even a rumour that Eddie Murphy of all people was going to play Sammy Davis Jnr though we doubt that was ever going to happen.
Screenwriter Michael Chabon revealed that he had worked on the musical biopic but it’s all fallen apart by the sound of it telling the media, ‘We can’t do it!…I think it is finally over. They (remaining members of the Sinatra clan) won’t agree to it. Open it up again and I’m there!. Certain things are very difficult for a family, and I totally understand. But, if they expect me to be doing it, they can’t hold back certain things. The problem is that the man was so complex. Everybody is so complex – but Sinatra in particular’
Great shame but cause for joy in other ways as the director will now make a return to the world of gangsters with his next film which will now be,’The Irishman’ starring DeNiro and Pacino.
Here’s an excerpt from the script….
DeNiro: You talking to me?
Pacino: Hoo HAA!
DeNiro: I said are you talking to me?
Pacino: Hoo HAA!!
DeNiro: Well I don’t see anyone else here?
Pacino: HOO HAA!!!
Annoyed at the monosyllabic moron he shoots him.
*******We don’t think this scene will make the final draft of the script though*****
