‘Sicario’ was probably our favourite film of 2015 and directed by one of our our favourite directors, Dennis Villeneuve (Arrival & Blade Runner 2049. So this is one sequel we’re incredibly psyched up to see. Emily Blunt and Daniel Kaluuya are out but Benecio Del Toro, Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Donovan return with Catherine Keener and Matthew Modine joining them as Del Toro’s undercover operative Alejandro Gillick and Brolin’s CIA agent Matt Graver re-team to bring down a cartel smuggling terrorists across the U.S./Mexico border.
Though Villneuve is not directing the film will be helmed by Stefano Sollima who made our favourite film of 2016, ‘Suburra‘, so its all looking pretty good so far. Taylor Sheridan returns as screenwriter and has already revealed that this sequel has a much bigger scope and is far more severe (if that’s possible after the first film), emotional and brutal.
The film opens 29th June 2018 in both the US and UK.
