Some industry insiders want the following to direct the next Bond film…….

As the speculation continues as to who will be the next Bond including the politically correct suggestions of Idris Elba and even Alicia Vikander to the obvious suggestions of Tom Hiddleston and Tom Hardy to the unexpected including Jake Gyllenhaal & even Steve Buscemi (and we’ll put money on it not being any of these) – although a new name has recently been mentioned, that of Aiden Turner, from TV’s Poldark but several industry insiders have also been asked about who they would like to see direct the next film now that Sam Mendes has made his intentions known not to do any more.

Those that have been asked are various CEO of film production companies, independent producers as well as other notable industry movers and shakers.

Their answers have been quite diverse as to who they want to direct and included David Yates (Harry Potter),   Danny Boyle (Trainspotting) and Denis Villeneuve (Sicario), Kim Jee-woon (I saw the Devil), Baltasar Kormakur (Everest), Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker), Nicolas Winding Refn (Pusher),  as well as some left field choices too including Andrea Arnold (Wuthering Heights) and Geena Davis (who has not actually directed any films but has moved into producing).

It’s still a long way from any final decision being made and we don’t think it’ll be until next year when a new Bond will be announced which means we’ve got to endure the Editor wandering around in a white tuxedo complaining that he’s feeling, ‘shaken not stirred’ by the abuse we give him. Although he seems wholly unaware that we actually call him Goldfinger based purely on the fact that he insists on buying cheap toilet roll.
