So with filming not far off from starting for Quentin Tarantino’s ninth and possibly penultimate film, ‘Once Upon a time in Hollywood’ the film has cast all of it’s main roles which will now include Al Pacino. Tarantino casts Pacino who will play Marvin Schwarz, the Hollywood agent of the lead character played by Leonardo DiCaprio. For Pacino its another first having recently completed filming his first role for Scorsese in The Irishman this will be his first film for Tarantino who has assembled a really impressive cast. Let’s hope Tarantino will curtail Pacino’s penchant for Hoo-Ha-ing his way through a performance

That cast includes:

Leonardo De Caprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Damian Lewis, Luke Perry, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen and Burt Reynolds.

So whilst Pitt, Russell, De Caprio Roth & Madsen have worked with him before the likes of Robbie, Fanning, Pacino and Reynolds have not. Pacino’s last few films have been forgettable with Hangman a serial killer film going straight to VoD but with this and his Scorsese film under his belt it should ensure a resurgence in his career when the films are released next year.

Margot Robbie continues on a roll of great film and award nominated performances after her Oscar nomination for ‘I, Tonya’. Dakota Fanning who was in the rather fantastic ‘Brimstone‘ and is in the about to be released ‘Oceans 8’ but has yet to be Oscar nominated and Tarantino does write great roles and as Tarantino casts Pacino could their be awards?

Which brings us to Burt Reynolds. It’s hard to reconcile that in the Seventies and very early Eighties he was the No1 box office draw. After a long spell in the wilderness he came back with a great performance in 1997’s Boogie Nights for which he was Oscar nominated and then spent the next twenty years appearing in top notch tat such as Universal Soldier 2 & 3, instantly forgotten TV series. Though his role appears to be a slightly minor one in this let’s hope he doesn’t blow it this time because at the moment its Saturday Night Live who have a spot on impression of his publicly perceived swaggeringly arrogant persona (who said some astonishing things about Charlie Sheen) as seen in their jeopardy quiz show spoofs.

‘Once Upon a time in Hollywood’ open August 9th 2019 and we can’t wait…..
