So with rumblings that cinemas might well be opening at a not too distant point as we reported HERE we now have a hint of new films emerging of which the Unhinged trailer landing on our desk which stars Russell Crowe (True History of the Kelly Gang). Pitched as a psychological thriller the film has moved up from its original September release date to a hoped for July 1st global release date which might make it the first new film to arrive in cinemas should they open by then.
The Unhinged trailer takes a run of the mill incident and ramps it up to extremes and a horrifying conclusion. It’s Caren Pistorius who plays Rachel, a young mother who accidentally leans on her horn at the wrong time and, as it turns out, to the absolute wrong guy (Russell Crowe in full on ‘mad as hell’ mode). Soon, Rachel finds herself and everyone she loves the target of a man who feels invisible and is looking to make one last mark upon the world by teaching her a series of deadly lessons. What follows is a dangerous game of cat and mouse that proves you never know who you’re driving next to. The unhinged trailer then takes his actions against the poor woman as far beyond the ‘road rage’ we know and loathe.
Research amongst US audiences has shown that 80% of Americans are eager to get bak to the movies and the films release will run in tandem with the release in lAustralia, China, The Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Taiwan. As for the UK well we’re waiting to see when the inevitable second wave will occur now that many have taken Boris’s message as a licence to run unfettered through the streets.
