It’s been a bit of a lacklustre year for traditional animation but 20th century fox have just announced the voice casting of Will Smith and Tom Holland as the lead characters Lance Sterling and Walter in the animated feature SPIES IN DISGUISE, an action comedy that will be released on January 18, 2019.
Set in the high octane globe-trotting world of international espionage it features Will Smith (Men in Black) as the voice of Lance Sterling, the world’s best spy. Saving the world is his occupation is what he does better and to paraphrase the lyrics of Carly Simon’s Bond theme for, ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’, nobody does it better.
At the other end of the spying spectrum is Walter, voiced by Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) who has a great mind but is perhaps not a great socializer. But what he lacks in social skills he more than makes up for with invention. He’s a scientific genius who invents the gadgets Lance uses on his missions. But when events take an unexpected turn, Walter and Lance suddenly have to rely on each other in a whole new way. And if this odd couple can’t learn to work as a team, the whole world (inevitably) is in peril……..
