With Geostorm not been quite the box office bomb that the critics would have you believe – so far its made $208m from its $120m budget – and is sure to make more when it goes to dvd / blu ray – Gerard Butler‘s box office appeal needs a boost so his next film really needs to do well.
So what is that film? Well it’s, ‘Den of Thieves’, which is also the pet name that our Editor refers to the AnyGoodFilms writers.
With Mr Butler having rightly abandoned soppy box office dud romantic dramas to stay with bombastic action thrillers which is a genre that ‘Den of Thieves’ neatly fits into. The story follows an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff’s Dept. and the state’s most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles.
Directed by Christian Gudegast this looks as bonkers mad as ‘London has Fallen‘ which he also wrote and also starred Butler
Looks like a testosterone fuelled romp and also stars rapper 50 cent (now appropriately named having been allegedly declared bankrupt) plus a number of other generic macho templates who we’re destined never to hear of again although continuing the rap theme O’Shea Jackson Jnr, (son of Ice Cube) also stars. Not sure why he wasn’t named Ice Cube Jnr or maybe Icicle or even Chilly Willy or perhaps……. (‘You’re Fired!’ – Ed)
Film opens in the US on 19th January 2018 and in the UK on 2nd February 2018.
