Netflix continue to make and release a raft of impressive films that range from blockbusters like ‘Extraction‘ and critically rated dramas like ‘The Irishman‘. Landing on our inbox is The Devil all the Time trailer which falls into that latter category with an impressive cast in an explosive Midwestern Gothic tale spanning two decades where sinister characters converge around young Arvin Russell as he fights the evil forces that threaten him and everything he loves.
Synopsis: In Knockemstiff, Ohio and its neighboring backwoods, sinister characters — an unholy preacher (Robert Pattinson), twisted couple (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough), and crooked sheriff (Sebastian Stan) — converge around young Arvin Russell (Tom Holland) as he fights the evil forces that threaten him and his family. Spanning the time between World War II and the Vietnam war, director Antonio Campos’ THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME renders a seductive and horrific landscape that pits the just against the corrupted. Co-starring Bill Skarsgård (Pennywise from It Chapter One & Two – see him talking to the audience at the premiere HERE), Mia Wasikowska, Harry Melling (Netflix recent release ‘The Old Guard‘), Haley Bennett, and the improbably named Pokey LaFarge, this suspenseful, finely-woven tale is adapted from Donald Ray Pollock’s award-winning debut novel.
Tom Holland and Sebastian Stan have both starred in multiple MCU projects, including three MCU movies together: Captain America Civil War, Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame and Chris Evans was originally cast as Sheriff Lee Bodecker but due to conflicting schedules had to drop out with Stan replacing him. The shoot began back in February 2019 and unusually for Netflix this was shot on 35mm film. Netflix output of own financed films are proving a serious challenge to the studios
The Devil All The Time is released on Netflix on September 16th 2020
