Back when Steve Martin used to make funny films ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ was one of his better ons starring him and Michael Caine as a pair of con artists pulling off a scam in the South of France. In fairness it was a remake anyway of the 1964 feature ‘Bedtime Story’ with Marlon Brando and David Niven.
As there seem to be few original ideas around anymore then its hardly a surprise that there’s a remake on the way. The spin on it being that its a female-led remake which is in pre-production in the UK starring Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway.
Titled ‘Nasty Women’ it marks the directorial feature debut of UK writer/comedian Chris Addison, whose experience behind the camera in the US has included directing episodes of comedy Playing House and political satire Veep.
Wilson joins Roger Birnbaum to produce the forthcoming film, which is written by Jac Schaeffer for US studio giant MGM.
