We love an escape room none more so than the one we went to in Prague three years ago on a stag weekend where we we all escaped except the groom where he is currently still trapped. Regrettably tradition dictated that the Best Man, who is already married, had to marry the bride and consequently is now serving a prison sentence for bigamy…….but we digress. Landing in our inbox is the Escape Room 2 trailer although here it is titled Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.
Escape Room: Tournament of Champions is the sequel to the box office hit psychological thriller that terrified audiences around the world. In this instalment, six people unwittingly find themselves locked in another series of escape rooms, slowly uncovering what they have in common to survive…and discovering they’ve all played the game before.
Starring Taylor Russell, Logan Miller who both appeared in the first film, Indya Moore, Holland Roden, Thomas Cocquerel, Carlito Olivero and is directed by Adam Robitel whose previous film was Insidious The Last Key. The first film was released in 2019 and costing only $9m but went on to earn a huge $155m worldwide so its little wonder that a sequel was quickly greenlit. The release of the first film was delayed due to a tragedy in a real escape room in Poland where five teenage girls had been trapped when a fire took hold of the venue. It is no the first time the title has been used for a film either with an Escape Room released in 2017 and No Escape Room the following year but neither were anywhere near as successful as the 2019 film which looks like this could be a franchise starter.
With a date to be confirmed Escape Room 2 is intended for release this summer
