Ferris Bueller spinoff film

The late great writer director John Hughes had helmed a number of instant classics that included ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’, ‘The Breakfast Club’ and of course Home Alone. added to that was another classic, ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ and now 38 years later there is new of a Ferris Bueller spinoff film.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off followed the title character played by Matthew Broderick, who ditches school with pal Cameron and girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara) in the hopes of having a day of adventure in Chicago. The film earned $70m and was influential and ahead of the curve with the now obligatory end title scene with the first Deadpool film directly lifting the same scene for themselves

To be titled ‘Sam and Victor’s Day Off’ the film takes place on a single day and centres on the two titular valets who borrow the Ferrari belonging to the father of Alan Ruck’s character, Cameron Frye, in John Hughes’ original 1986 film. Richard Edson and Larry Flash Jenkins played the unnamed valets in the original film who take the Ferrari on a joy ride but its thought unlikely that they will reprise their roles.

The film will be directed by David Katzenberg who is known for his work as director and executive producer of ABC’s The Goldbergs, along with producing Warner Bros.’ hit 2017 film It. His other directing credits include the series Average Joe911: Lone StarYoung Rock and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. (no, us neither!). Development of the project was initially reported back in 2022.

Quite when we will see the Ferris Bueller spinoff film is unclear but there’s the possibility that it could be as soon as summer 2025
