There’s little doubt that Terminator 2 with its groundbreaking effects and pulsating action is, and remains, one of the finest action films ever made but it appears that Arnie’s Terminator role is finished according to the actor himself

It’s hardly surprising as the franchise quickly plummeted to its nadir with ‘Terminator : Genisys’ with its almost incomprehensible plotting and its one redeeming feature was a twist that was blown in a catastrophically bad piece of marketing where it was revealed in the films trailer. So a planned trilogy and a spin-off TV series were quickly cancelled. Dark Fate was something of a return to form but it still fared badly at the box office making a loss of $122m and the future of the franchise is undetermined. One thing is for sure is that to misquote Arnie and his appearing in future film , ‘I won’t be back!’

Currently promoting his new action-comedy TV series “FUBAR,” actor Arnold Schwarzenegger said,

The franchise is not done. I’m done. I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to ‘The Terminator.’ Someone has to come up with a great idea. ‘The Terminator’ was largely responsible for my success, so I always would look at it very fondly. The first three movies were great. Number four [‘Salvation’] I was not in because I was governor. Then five [‘Genisys’] and six [‘Dark Fate’] didn’t close the deal as far as I’m concerned. We knew that ahead of time because they were just not well written.”

Quite how the franchise will be reinvigorated is anyone’s guess but its unlikely to be with James Cameron who is tied up with his Avatar films for a few more years yet
