We very much like Edgar Wright’s directing style with his previous films including  his cornetto trilogy (“Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz,” & ‘The World’s End’) as well as cult classic “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” and his blockbuster “Baby Driver.” So we were very excited to see this first glimpse of his latest film with the arrival of the Last Night in Soho trailer.

The mind-bending flick finds an aspiring young fashionista whose dreams transport her to 1960s London where she appears to everyone else as her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But the period is not what it seems, time is fractured and the terrors of the past begin to bleed into the present. The film will include a time-travel component, which Wright alluded to as  being, “Haunted by someone else’s past, but we’ll see you in the future.”

Last Night In Soho trailer - first look at Edgar Wright's latest film!

Wright’s co-wrote the London-set psychological thriller with Penny Dreadful” writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns and the film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Thomasin McKenzie and Matt Smith and is produced by Nira Park. In an interview Wright has said that he initially thought of Anya Taylor-Joy for the role of Eloise, but changed his mind after seeing her embody a similar character — “an innocent girl who gets thrown into a situation” — in “Split.” As for McKenzie, the director said, “She’s great [in ‘Last Night In Soho.’] She’s so young and fragile that the film is going to be twice as scary.’

Taylor-Joy’s has enjoyed success in Netflix’s hit “The Queen’s Gambit,” and hit films, “The Witch,” “Split” and its albeit disappointing sequel “Glass.” McKenzie came to attention with her starring role in Taika Waititi’s Oscar winning, “Jojo Rabbit.”

After a delayed release from 2020 due to the pandemic the film will now finally open on October 29th 2021 in the UK
