Currently deep in post production we now have the recently married Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood trailer , his ninth directorial feature that is set in the Los Angeles of 1969. Tarantino has gone on record as saying that he will only be making ten films so this could well be his penultimate film before he says he write novels….. but hey who knows what he’ll do!
The story follows a washed-up ex-western actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Brad Pitt) trying to make it in the movie business, and they end up trying to score the help of their neighbor Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie).
Timothy Olyphant, Al Pacino, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Damian Lewis, Emile Hirsch, Dakota Fanning, Clifton Collins, James Marsden, Scoot McNairy and the late Luke Perry (Burt Reynolds was also due to film sens in the film but died weeks before he was about to begin and is now to be played by Bruce Dern) co-star in the film. This is DiCaprio’s first film since winning an Oscar for The Revenant and Tarantino has described his pairing with Brad Pitt as being on a par with Robert Redford and Paul Newman in their Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid hey day. There’s a bitter irony in the role in Luke Perry playing the real life role of Wayne Maunder who passed away the year before this film is set.
The film is expected (but not confirmed) to have its world premiere at Cannes in late May and the film is rumoured to be similar in structure to his classic Oscar winning Pulp Fiction.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set to open in the USA on 26th July and in the UK on 14th August 2019
