Pet Sematary – -TRAILER

0

With last years Stephen King reboot of ‘IT” performing phenomenally well the studios are looking at the rest of his back catalogue to remake and first up is the Pet Sematary trailer. The original film was released back in 1989 and was directed by Mary Lambert who went on to direct the long forgotten sequel in 1992. The original film had a less than stellar cast but bizarrely included Fred Gwynne best known as Herman Munster in TV’s The Munsters.

The cast for the reboot looks a lot better with Jason Clarke and especially John Lithgow in lead roles. The Pet Sematary trailer looks pretty creepy having been directed by two directors Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer. It seems to be a bit of a trend to have a pair of directors helming films sometimes to great effect as with the Russo brothers on the Marvel films and sometimes to…..well…..disastrous effect as with Chris Miller and Phil Lord on Solo where they were quickly fired and replaced by Ron Howard. Kolsch & Widmyer have directed a number of low profile projects but the Pet Sematary trailer is is their biggest to date.

The story follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

The script is adapted from the book by Jeff Buhler (who has written the remake of Jacob’s Ladder) and co -written with David Kajganich (who has written the Suspiria remake about to open soon).

The film opens April 5th 2019 in the US and the UK.
