Now the Project Power trailer landed in our inbox and looks pretty interesting too. The story starts on the streets of New Orleans and word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.
Now our Editor has had a dalliance with pills which he has tried to convince us are multi vitamins until we pointed that no multi vitamins are blue, diamond shaped and are only available from the chemist (‘You’re fired!’ – Ed).
Directed by the duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman who have a decent back catalogue of films that included Paranormal Activity 3 and 4 as well as Nerve , an enjoyably daft social media thriller from a few years ago. They have assembled a good cast led by Jamie Foxx (See our clip of him talking to us at the ‘Just Mercy‘ premiere HERE) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and co-stars Dominique Fishback, Rodrigo Santoro, Colson Baker (MGK), Allen Maldonado, Amy Landecker, and Courtney B. Vance (Ben is Back). According to a recent interview with Joseph Gordon-Levitt this was shot back in 2018 but the Kung Flu pandemic has had an impact on the release of films and this is the second film after the recently released ‘7500′ of three films he has out this year. From the Project Power trailer this looks it could be a goodie……
