Let us just say for record that since Rebel Wilson completely reinvented herself and given herself a whole new make over she looks absolutely fantastic. So its little surprise therefore that news came in that she was invited to audition for the next James Bond film.
All of this came about after the Bond producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli watched her present the 2022 BAFTA film awards. But much of this was due to a series of Bond jokes she was to make in her stint as presenter that were run past the producers for approval and it was this that led to her being invited for audition. “What was really cool was getting to audition for Bond,” said Wilson although she has clarified that was not for the role of James Bond bur instead another another character in the film that will be the 26th in the franchise. The audition took place last year and as to whether Rebel Wilson landed the role she remains coy as to whether or not she got the job. At present the new Bond film is still in the script stage with an actor who will take over the role still to be announced. – our money is on Aaron Taylor-Johnson!
Wilson is about to make her directorial debut with “The Deb,” which is being made as an independent feature, backed by billionaire investor Len Blavatnik. Unusual as it is to work outside the studios she has said that with previous movies she has appeared it convinced her to try something different. “A lot of people don’t know I have a law degree’ said Wilson ‘And I’m quite entrepreneurial. So as a business woman I was like, for this project [‘The Deb’], I can film it really economically in Australia and then I own 50% of the film. For me, that was very attractive offer and I’m so glad that I get to partner with Unigram and AI and just go 50/50 … I thought it was a good deal.”
