So what classic film are they going to remake now…….?

We’re about to get the remake of The Magnificent Seven with Denzel Washington and only the other week we had the Ben Hur remake. They’re just the latest in a very long line of classic films that have ben remade over the years and it seems that nothing is off limits with Psycho even being remade shot for shot for no apparent reason. Admittedly there have been some good remakes namely the recent Planet of the Apes (not the Tim Burton abomination obviously), Cronenberg’s ‘The Fly’, John Carpenters ‘The Thing’, however we have had some utter shite shovelled onto the screen such as Robocop, Arthur, The Haunting, The Stepford Wives, The Wicker Man, The Amityville Horror, Total Recall, Red Dawn, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Point Break, The Omen…. the list goes on and on and on……

But it seems that after The Magnificent Seven its the turn of western to be plundered and the latest to get the remake treatment is the classic 1952 black and white film, ‘High Noon’ with Gary Cooper as retiring sheriff Will Kane, who vows to stand alone to protect his small town when he learns that a vicious local criminal and is coming back to seek his revenge after serving a prison sentence. The remake however will be contemporary and set along the cartel-controlled U.S.-Mexico border.

Relativity Studios have acquired the rights and will produce, finance and distribute the new film which should be interesting as the studio has only just com back after declaring itself bankrupt in April this year!
