We reported HERE some time ago about a David Bowie biopic and now we have a first glimpse with the arrival of the Stardust trailer with Johnny Flynn in the lead role.
Directed and co-written by Gabriel Range the film begins in 1971 as a 24-year-old fledgling David Bowie (Johnny Flynn) is sent to America to promote his newest record, “The Man Who Sold the World”. Leaving behind his pregnant wife Angie (Jena Malone), Bowie and his band embark on a makeshift coast-to-coast promotional tour with struggling Mercury Records publicist Rob Oberman (Marc Maron). It was a tour that would inspire the invention of his iconic alter ego Ziggy Stardust.
We ran a piece HERE about the making of the film when it got its first screening at a film festival but the film has not been without its problems mainly that it has not had the support of the singers estate added to that is the problem of none of his songs were authorized to be use in the film either. Fans have also been up in arms about the trailer citing not only the lack of any songs but that of Johnny Flynn himself as Bowie and that he neither looks nor sounds like and on viewing of the Stardust trailer they do have a point. But to be fair you can’t judge a film solely by its trailer so we will wait to see it first. Flynn is currently in the recent release of ‘Cordelia‘ and we should see him next in ‘The Dig’ about the discovery of Sutton Hoo by archaeologists in 1938.
Th film also stars Paul Van Carter, Nick Taussig, Matt Code, Daniel Hubbard, and Julie Strifler produces the film which hits cinemas in the UK on and VOD on November 25th 2020
