We all like a story of ghosts and our Editor is especially keen on forbidden spirits which may explain why he locked himself in the cellar of The Nags Head (‘You’re fired!‘ – Ed). Anyway we now have the latest in The Conjuring franchise with ‘The Devil Made Me Do It’ trailer.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the film featuring one of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.

Co starring in the film are Ruairi O’Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Julian Hilliard and the this latest entry in the franchise has been labelled as being the darkest entry to date. Michael Chaves, who did a decent job helming, “The Curse of La Llorona” (review HERE) directs this latest Conjuring film from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick from a story by James Wan & David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Wan had directed the two previous films but since the immense success of Fast & Furious 7 and also Aquaman both breaking the $1billion barrier it looks like he is leaving directing horror behind to produce only. The real Lorraine Warren had been an advisor on the previous films but passed away aged 92 years old in 2019 – her husband Ed had passed away in 2006. Both were devout Roman Catholics.

Like many films “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” had been set for release back in Autumn 2020 but the worldwide pandemic put an end to that and it now opens both in cinemas and on HBO Max on June 4th 2021
