The latest on the future of the Terminator franchise…….

....... one was mechanical, had a hollow head, and was devoid of emotion and the other one was a robot.......

With the last terminator film under performing massively in the US the future of the franchise was in immediate jeopardy with Paramount pulling the plug on making an intended trilogy before 2019 when the rights would revert back to James Cameron who at present is about to start filming his lanky smurf extravaganza Avatar 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 ad nauseum.

Anyway Schwarzenegger is in Cannes at the moment to promote the ‘Wonders of the Sea 3D’ documentary and was asked about his future films including obviously the Terminator. ”It is back,” commented Schwarzenegger, (see what he did there?) who also revealed that he had met Cameron recently and discussed the project. “It is moving forward. He [Cameron] has some good ideas of how to continue with the franchise,” the actor added, “I will be in the movie.”

Quite whether this is wishful thinking and he’s trying to relive former glories is anyone’s guess as his current crop of films since returning to movies after a stint in politics has been less than stellar. He also went on to comment about sequels to hit films earlier in his career.

About a Conan reboot he said, ‘“It’s being rewritten…the idea is to do it.”

About a sequel to Twins called Triplets he said, ‘“The script will be finished in a month”, confirming that he would be starring alongside Danny DeVito and Eddie Murphy, and that original producer-director Ivan Reitman is involved in the project. “It’s just around the corner,” he added.

It seems he may even be doing some TV for Netflix saying, ‘I’m looking forward to working [with Netflix]. Hopefully there will be something.”

With his last film ‘Aftermath’ having an extremely limited release in the US he desperately needs a hit and the Terminator films have garnered ever worse reviews as each film is released so perhaps Cameron is the man to reinvigorate any future films.
