Writer – Director Guillermo Del Toro always produces some very interesting films and whether its his superb Oscar winning masterpiece ‘Pans Labyrinth’ or crowd pleasers like Hellboy & Pacific Rim they are always must see films for any film fan. It look like his next film, ‘The Shape of Water’ is a return to form after the disappointing box office failure of ‘Crimson Peak’.
Something of a fairy tale that’s clearly been influenced by, ‘The creature from the Black Lagoon’ the story is set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1962 where, in the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins – Paddington 2) is trapped in a life of isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.
The film stars the always watchable Michael Shannon and Del Toro regular Doug Jones. The film has been doing the rounds at the festivals to rave reviews and opens in the US on December 8th and in the UK on 16th February 2018.
