Win a copy of MATANGI / MAYA / MIA here….

MIA is the military acronym for Missing In Action and we often use it about our Editor. It’s a bit of a misnomer as he’s rarely in action in the first place and he’s not missing as we know full well he’s propping up the bar in The Nags Head but we digress (‘You’re fired!’ – Ed).

MIA is actually the critically acclaimed British artist who to fame on the back of international hit-singles Paper Planes and Bad Girls. Sixteen years after breaking out onto the music scene, MATANGI / MAYA / MIA, a highly anticipated documentary, lifts the lid on Maya “M.I.A.” Arulpragasam’s extraordinary life and musical journey from her own perspective. Packed with previously unseen footage, this brand-new feature film tells the real story behind one of Britain’s most celebrated and controversial female artists.

This is a decent music documentary that we reviewed here with a surprising political slant as her father was on of the founders of the Sri Lankan Tamil Tigers movement and MIA has an acute understanding of the atrocities on a situation that the world has turned its back on.
