Billi struggles with her family’s decision to keep grandma in the dark about her own illness as they all stage an impromptu wedding to see grandma one last time. It’s a really delightful film full of humour and pathos and well worth seeing.
The Farewell was a Sundance film festival sensation winning the Sundance London Audience Favourite Award. One of Variety’s Directors To Watch 2019 The Farewell blu ray was written and directed by Lulu Wang (she also played piano on the soundtrack) it was semi autobiographical and saw Awkwafina in a straight dramatic role rather than the comic roles she played in Crazy Rich Asians and Oceans 8 and most recently Jumanji The Next Chapter.
