After the success of The Meg 2 there was the failure of Expendables 4 or Expend4bles which flopped with only $27m worldwide so its good to see Jason Statham maybe back on form if The Beekeeper trailer is anything to go by.
“The Beekeeper,” is one man’s brutal campaign for vengeance as he takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as ‘Beekeepers’. The target of his vengeance? A phishing company. The man suffered personal tragedy due to his friend and former caretaker ended her life after falling for one of the company’s scams. Now he intends to make them pay.
This has got a decent cast too and co starring Jason Statham is Josh Hutcherson, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Minnie Driver, Bobby Naderi, Phylicia Rashad and Jeremy Irons. Now we’ve always wanted to Irons and Driver do a gnarly action film and this could be the one.Kurt Wimmer pens the script for the film which was shot in the UK in late 2022 and is thought to be the start of a franchise. This is directed by David Ayers who knows a thing or two about action after helming Suicide Squad (and maybe we will get to see his directors cut of that film) and Arnie’s ‘Sabotage’. Perhaps this is a warm up film for Ayers and he is about to start work on a remake of the Dirty Dozen which is they get the casting right could be phenomenal and could make up for where Expend4ables fared so badly. In the mean time we look forward to an action packed The Beekeeper.
“The Beekeeper” will open in cinemas on January 12th 2024
