The one cartoon that we were always keen to see a live action version or hybrid anyway was the Road Runner / Wile.e.Coyote and now we have a Coyote vs Acme trailer at long last after it had appeared to have been made but shelved with mo hope of it ever being seen.
What to expect from the Coyote vs Acme trailer…..
After all of the products made by ACME Corporation backfire on Wile E. Coyote, in his pursuit of the Road Runner, he hires an equally-unlucky human attorney to sue the company. When Wile E.’s lawyer finds out that his former law firm’s intimidating boss is ACME’s CEO, he teams up with Wile E. to win the court case against him.
Costing a reported $70m the film the original makers Warner Bros Discovery had shelved it as a tax write off to the tune of $30m with the deal meaning it would never be seen. This was one of three films that included Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt to be written off against tax. The cast and crew were even granted a “funeral screening’ before it disappeared seemingly forever.
There was general uproar as fans wanted to see it and the filmmakers wanted it seen. Hardly surprising when its cast included the always good John Cena and Will Forte along with Lana Condor, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and Luis Guzmán. Ketchup Entertainment acquired the worldwide rights to the film last year ad they have taken the opportunity to poke fun at the original studio with the tag line, ‘The Movie ACME Didn’t Want You To See’.
“Coyote vs. Acme” will open in US and UK cinemas on 28th August 2026.
