Dustin Hoffman stars in director Peter Greenaway's new film....

At 87 years of age this year Dustin Hoffman seems to have spent the last decade doing his faux oriental accent for the Kung Fu Panda films and arguably has not had a decent on screen role for years – we’d loved to see him in a Tarantino film! Well news lands that Dustin Hoffman stars in director Peter Greenaway’s new film….

Now Peter Greenaway’s films nearly always caused a stir and the late great director Alan Parker once threatened to stop making films is Greenaway was ever given money to make another. (He didn’t when he did). But Greenaway;s new film has quite a cast alongside Hoffman that will include Helen Hunt (AS GOOD AS IT GETS, TWISTER), Sofia Boutella (REBEL MOON), Giacomo Gianniotti (GREY’S ANATOMY,), Jonno Davies (KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, ) and Laura Morante (CHERRY ON THE CAKE).

Filming has just started on location in Lucca, Italy with Greenaway directing from his own screenplay. The film is the story of an intelligent man whose final big adventure is intended to be his death. He wants to make it elegant and sensible. Tidy, with as few loose ends as possible.

Welsh director and writer Peter Greenaway originally trained as a painter and began working as a film editor for the Central Office of Information in 1965. Shortly afterwards he started to make his own films. Since then, he has produced a wealth of short and feature-length films, such as the iconic 1989’s THE COOK, THE THIEF, HIS WIFE & HER LOVER and the critically acclaimed 1982 drama THE DRAUGHTSMAN’S CONTRACT. Most recently, Greenaway wrote and directed the 2015 drama EISENSTEIN IN GUANAJUATO. Dustin Hoffman is an iconic actor known for his distinguished career. He is a two-time Academy Award winner and seven-time nominee. He will next star in Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis”

Director Peter Greenaway said: “The theme of this film is highly relevant and topical in these times, where the end-of-life topic is headline news on a daily basis.  As such, I am very excited to be working with such an array of extraordinary actors and crew and personal collaborators to bring this particular story to the big screen. With ironic provocation the film is prepared to seriously ask if death is necessary, and if it is, should we not be available to decide where and when? And even how? If we truly are going to die, shouldn’t we be involved in the decision-making?”
