Producer Jerry Bruckheimer & director Joseph Kosinski the duo behind ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and this summer’s ‘F1’ have a UFO conspiracy thriller that has the studios in a bidding war! as a duo Kosinski and Bruckheimer achieved huge success in the past having spent years developing a sequel to Bruckheimer’s 1986 smash Top Gun. Fending off the pressure to release it on streaming the film arrived in cinemas over Memorial Day weekend in 2022 and earned a hugs $1.4 billion globally and collecting six Oscar nominations along the way winning one for best sound.
Their latest project is written by Zach Baylin, the writer whose credits include Will Smith’s King Richard, Creed III, and last year’s Jude Law white supremacist thriller The Order. Amazon, Apple, Lionsgate, Paramount and Warner Bros. are among the studios in on the action, with sources saying the bidding is escalating “quickly and aggressively.”
There’s next to nothing known about the UFO conspiracy thriller story beyond it being described as All the President’s Men with UFOs. But what seems to be driving the interest is a man called David Grusch a former United States Air Force officer – and erstwhile UFO whistleblower –who is believed to be acting as a consultant on the project. It is Grusch who made headlines in 2023 when he testified before Congress that the government has been studying the spacecraft and bodies of aliens, all the while suppressing leaks.
