Waaaaaaay back in 1989 Keanu Reeves hit pay dirt with his role as a rock loving slacker in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and mad a sequel the following year. Unfortunately it was a role that frankly he’s tried to shake for the next 30 years or so and the news that a third film is likely to happen soon will please fans.
All this comes from his co-star Alex Winter who has suggested that it may even start shooting in Autumn 2016 and he told Forbes magazine, ‘This is Hollywood so I don’t believe it’s happening until it’s coming out on VOD but we’re all working on the film everyday at the moment in terms of the pre-prep type work so it’s an active project. Hopefully we’ll be shooting it shortly’.
He probably needs it more than Keanu because whilst Keanu made Dracula (‘Whoa Dracula dude!’), The Matrix (‘whoa, computers dude’) & Speed (‘whoa, single ticket to the mall, dude’) Winter starred in films that probably only his mum saw and has been directing films more than acting in them. Though with both actors now being in their mid fifties they might be a little too old to be playing a pair of teenage slackers.
Rumours of a third film have been doing the rounds since 2012 and we’ll believe it when we see it although there’s little hope of George Carlin reprising his role as he died in 2008.
