The 1980’s were something of a turbulent time for Doctor Who. Tom Baker, after seven years, had ended the longest run of any actor in the role before or since and what followed was a succession of actors who took over. Peter Davison first transmogrified into the Doctor for three years until Colin Baker was cast in the role.
His tenure lasted only two years and was turbulent through no fault of his own. BBC executives were unhappy with how Colin’s incarnation was heading and there was an 18 month hiatus between his first and second series. Ratings hsad been poor and eventually Baker was forced from the role.
We had the opportunity to chat with a very amiable Colin Baker who was and remains hugely entertaining during which we asked him about what happened and why his tenure as Doctor Who ended. He explained all here…
