Writer – director Neil Marshall’s debut feature film, ‘Dog Soldiers’ was and remains a firm favourite with horror fans but his second film, The Descent’ was an even bigger hit with both horror fans as well as being huge box office earner too.
The film sees a woman go on vacation with her friends after her husband and daughter encounter a tragic accident. One year later she goes on a potholing holiday with five of her friends but after a rock fall they find themselves trapped in a cave. With a lack of supply, they struggle to find a way out unaware that there are strange blood thirsty creatures tracking their every move.
A great cast and at times extremely claustrophobic the film has it jump scare moments and enough gore to satisfy horror fans. With the film released on 4k UHD for the first time we chatted to Neil about the making of the film, those alternate endings, creature effects and a whole lot more including the disastrous sequel that was out of his hands.
