Martial arts man Steven Seagal film debut was in 1988’s ‘Above the Law’ (aka Nico) after which he began churning out films at the rate of roughly one or more a year during which his reputation and rumours of his on and off set behaviour grew steadily worse. It all seemed to have begun with his second film back in 1990 with Hard to Kill
The film saw the mob, its political supporters and hired assassins leave LAPD Detective Mason Storm (Seagal) for dead. Seven years later, he recovers from a deep coma, demanding justice and the opportunity to get even.
Co-starring in the film was Seagal’s wife at the time Kelly Lebrock but actor William Sadler ( who in the same year had been the villain in Die Hard 2) also appeared as a Senator. Seagal was already at loggerheads with director Bruce Malmuth and we got to chat with William Sadler about Steven Seagal and how he behaved in an extraordinary story.
