Scorsese’s films are always an event and there’s much anticipation for his new film but the question that is doing the is …. Is Scorsese’s, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ too long?

It has been over a year now since the film finished shooting since which the director and his editor Thelma Schoonmaker have been deep in editing but the news is that the film is currently at a whopping three hours and twenty minutes and was hope to debut at Cannes but the festival organisers have said that it may be too long for them to handle with sources reporting that the festival is, ‘waiting to see how this all works out.”

Hugh Bonneville & Kelly MacDonald talk serial murder

It would seem extraordinary of the worlds premiere film festival could not accommodate the latest film, from one the of the worlds most highly regarded directors. And there’s a feeling that with a $200m budget stumped up by Apple Studios and Paramount Pictures the pressure will be on for it to debut at Cannes before it gets a theatrical and eventually streaming release.

How they de-aged De Niro in The Irishman

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, John Lithgow and Lily Gladstone from a script co-written by Eric Roth and Scorsese and based on David Grann’s best-selling book Killers of the Flower Moon explores the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation during the 1920s. The murders prompted the newly-formed FBI to investigate.

The film has already had a number of reshoots and pick ups in 2022 after its original shoot in 2021 and Scorsese has form for lengthy films with “The Wolf of Wall Street” running for 180 minutes and “The Irishman” at 209 minutes – his longest to date. So is Scorsese’s, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ too long?
