Part of Warner Brothers Monsterverse it will be the third film in the franchise to film in Australia’s Gold Coast and other locations in Southeast Queensland state. “Godzilla vs Kong” filmed on the Gold Coast in 2019, while “Kong: Skull Island” filmed in the state in 2016.
Godzilla v Kong sequel is unlikely to be the title obviously and as yet it remains untitled but this sequel will receive a hefty tax incentive care of the Australian federal government’s Location Incentive Program with further subsidy coming from the state screen agency Screen Queensland and its Production Attraction Strategy. It is a canny investment as the two authorities expect the new production to pour more than A$119 million ($88 million) into the economy, employ more than 500 local cast and crew, and use more than 750 extras.
Australia has had a number of high profile big budget films locate there over the years including Mission Impossible II, The Matrix trilogy, The Great Gatsby, The Wolverine, Superman Returns and ….um….The Inbetweeners 2
