There’s was a glut of decent shark movies some years ago started by The Shallows and then 47 Metres Down and finally the mega budgeted blockbuster The Meg which did big business earning $530m. Enormously fun the films success has meant a sequel and we have Meg 2 The Trench trailer which again looks like a great summer popcorn movie.
We were taken a little by surprise when the trailer opens with mention of an apex predator and yet at no point is there any mention of Prince Andrew but what we do get is glimpses of big ass sharks and from the look of this new trailer it appears that this sequel will have a pack of Meg sharks troughing down on all manner of tourists and in that respect we were hoping that Love Island might be set at sea at the same time but alas no
With Jason Statham returning there’s the usual array of good actors unlikely to make it to the end of the film. But perhaps the biggest surprise is that Brit director Ben Wheatley is helming. Nothing wrong with that as he’s an excellent director of horror as seen with films of his but this is the first time he’s had such a gargantuan budget to play with so we’re looking forward to what mayhem he can conjure up with such a vast studio budget
