With writer-director Fede Alvarez Alien Romulus giving the franchise a much needed relaunch and box office being extremely healthy earning $350m off a modest $80m budget talk was rife about a sequel. Well now there’s some Alien Romulus 2 news from the director that suggests it closer than we might think after 20th Century Studios greenlit the project
Along with co-writer co-writer Rodo Sayagues he has been working on a script for some time suggesting to fans that a sequel will continue following Cailee Spaeny’s Rain and David Jonsson’s Andy characters from that film adding that he was keen to take the pair of them “to a place in the Alien franchise that we’ve never been before and to discover things that you’ve never seen before.”
He’s gone on record as saying “I think the sequel is my next movie” and with regard to when when it might start filming he added, “It’s a good question. I hope I can shoot it this year.”
Asked to expand on the he gave some further Alien Romulus 2 news saying, “For a sequel now, I think there’s a vast horizon in front of us for where we can go because Alien is so many things. Alien is Alien, it’s Prometheus, and everything in between. It’s such a big universe. I think now I would love to go, and the plan is to go into truly uncharted waters for the franchise.”
