What’s the Mother Mary trailer about?
Long-buried wounds rise to the surface when iconic pop star Mother Mary (Anne Hathaway) reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm (Michaela Coel) on the eve of her comeback performance.
Starrng alongside Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel are Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, Isaura Barbé-Brown, with Sian Clifford, and FKA Twigs. And the film is directed by David Lowery who has an eclectic back catalogue that takes in ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’ for Disney, The Green knight, the late Robert Redford’s last film as an actor, ‘The Old Man and the Gun’, the under rated live action remake of Pete’s Dragon and the excellent ‘A Ghost Story’. All of his films are well worth a look and Mother Mary, which he has also written, looks no different.
An album too…
The film also has a soundtrack album being released titled, ‘The Mother Mary: Greatest Hits’ album which arrives on 17th April and features additional songs by Hathaway, Charli xcx, and Jack Antonoff.
Mother Mary is released in UK cinemas on 24th April 2026
