Werwulf - From the director for Nosferatu

Writer Director Robert Eggers last film was a remake of the vampire classic Nosferatu and like all hos previous films it was  instantly recognisable just from one frame and on that front his new film Werwulf is no different.

In medieval Britain, a mysterious creature stalks the foggy countryside, transforming local folklore into terrifying reality as villagers face an ancient supernatural threat.

Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe and Lily-Rose Depp all of whom were also in Nosferatu ( and another of the favourite Ralph Ineson must be in it somewhere too! and this new film looks set to be another visual treat. His past films have all been pretty bleak but Eggers has stated that Werwulf is the darkest thing he has written to date. The dialogue in film is all 1300s Middle English and Eggers worked with two Oxford professors on the dialogue, which is Middle English and then worked with a dialect coach on a way to temper the pronunciation.

Robert Eggers had planned to shoot the feature in black and white but ultimately decided to abandon that idea in favor of color. The film was shot on 35mm film in the Super 35 format and presented in a boxy 1.37:1 aspect ratio. The grain structure is black & white film incorporated onto colour film to create a unique look.

THE FILM WILL BE IN CINEMAS IN UK & IRELAND on 1st JANUARY 2027
