So we have had Pirates of the Caribbean and most recently Jungle Cruise but the latest Disney theme park ride to get a big screen adaptation will be Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – The Movie! The theme park ride is a gold rush era runaway steam train rollercoaster which has been one of the theme parks most popular attractions.
Katie Ellwood and Amber Templemore-Finlayson aka Bert & Bertie who helmed three episodes of Hawkeye will be directing from a script by Kieran and Michele Mulroney, the married screenwriting pair whose credits include Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and the 2017 Power Rangers reboot. But behind the scenes are two unexpected production companies Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free who will be producing. No news yet on who will star
It’s not the first time there’s been an effort to get it on the screen when ten years ago the Disney-owned network ABC developed a western pilot from writer Ice Age: Continental Drift Jason Fuchs and with Fast and Furious screenwriter Chris Morgan executive producing but unfortunately the series didn’t make it to the screen after all.
