Featuring a purple dinosaur and premiering in 1988, “Barney & Friends” aired for 14 seasons before coming to an end in November 2010. Well after the huge success of Barbie the toy manufacturer’s are keen to have their toys as major feature film and that’s what we will be getting when award winning actor Daniel Kaluuya Barney film!
News of the project first started circulating in November 2019 when Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner said that working with the actor Daniel Kaluuya would allow the studio “to take a completely new approach to ‘Barney’ that will surprise audiences and subvert expectations.” Well that would certainly be true if Daniel Kaluuya was in the barney outfit but it turns out that its actors production company 59% Productions in partnership with “Barney” IP owner Mattel Films that will be making the film rather than him starring in it.
Plot details are being kept under wraps but it is “The Bear” star Ayo Edebiri who is set to write the screenplay for the upcoming live-action ‘Barney’ movie and is also in talks to star in the film!
Brenner has said, ‘If it’s not authentic, we’re not going to do it. We want to remain consistent to the authenticity, the DNA of “Barney,” but we also want to modernize.”
