Mr Irrelevant - David Corenswet stars in this true life story

Though many might think that Mr Irrelevant is now the code name security forces use for Prince Harry it is actually the new film starring David Corenswet in the title role in what is a true life story.

Mr. Irrelevant is the inspiring true story of John Tuggle (David Corenswet), the last player selected in the last round of the 1983 NFL draft by the New York Giants. A true underdog, Tuggle defied expectations on the field and off for his then first-year head coach, Bill Parcells (Michael Shannon), his newfound love (Isabel May), and his team, proving that remarkable hope and perseverance can transcend even the greatest challenges.

Joining David Corenswet is Isabel May, David Krumholtz, Tuwaine Barrett, Thaddeus LaGrone, Alexander England, Spencer House, Tandi Wright and Michael Shannon and from the trailer this looks like pretty uplifting stuff even if it does have Bono caterwauling Where the Streets have no name’ over it.

The satirical title of “Mr. Irrelevant” is traditionally given every year to the final pick of the NFL draft.  and the film is directed by Jonathan Levine who is purportedly helming the Days of Thunder sequel. In the US this is being released on Christmas Day usually the last date that any Oscar contenders can be released for any awards consideration so who knows with this one. A UK date is yet to be confirmed
