With Amazon now owning Bond there’s much speculation about what direction it will take. David Heyman is now on board as the producer and rumour is that the new Bond will be announced in the Autumn meaning that a director will join soon after and with Nolan shortlisted to direct. But its not THAT Nola, Instead its his brother Jonathan, something of a surprise choice, but with an impressive back catalogue as a writer on Christopher’s films.
Also shortlisted to direct Bond are ‘Conclave” and “All Quiet on the Western Front” director Edward Berger along with fellow Oscar nominee Dennis Villeneuve who had also been on the shortlist when Barbara Broccoli & Michael G Wilson were running the show.
But the other two directors on the shortlist are also inspired choices. The first is Edgar Wright beloved for his ‘cornetto trilogy’ with Simon Pegg and whose remake of the Running Man in the Autumn and how that is received will have some bearing on him as final choice. Also on the list is Paul King whose had huge success with the first two Paddington films and Wonka, he also has the advantage of having had Heyman as his producer on both films.
All will be getting their chance to pitch their ideas to the producers but much will also depend on when the film will be shot as all these directors have projects lined up which might put them out of the running which is what seems to have happened with previous frontrunner Alfonso Cuaran. Whoever it is though we’ll known by Christmas but frankly we would like to see them all helm a Bond film
