Highlights of the Pitch Perfect films have always been Rebel Wilson’s Fat Amy, a gloriously inappropriate character blurting out what should often be unspoken. At the time the actress was by her own admission overweight to an unhealthy level which whilst ideal for her character was far from ideal for her own health and 2020 saw her go headlong into a 12 month fitness regime which saw her lose a huge amount of weight and frankly looking amazing by the end.

But she has recently revealed that she was obliged to stay at her weight for the three Pitch Perfect films saying, ‘“I couldn’t lose a massive amount of weight because it was in the contracts for that movie. You can’t lose — I think it’s not more than 10 pounds or gain more than 10 pounds. You have to kind of stay at the weight. It’s in your contract.”

I love doing the roles; I love those characters. But then I did want to do more things, but I felt like being the bigger girl, you’re just more pigeonholed.”

But her desire to have a child especially as she neared 40 years of age which saw her take advice from a fertility doctor and was the impetus for the 2020 health drive and in November the actress gave birth to her her first child, a girl named Royce Lillian, via surrogate.
